HOW TO STYLE YOUR PEAR SHAPED BODY

Hello Sweet Sweet!!

So in my post How to know your body shape, I discussed the basic female body shape and the features of each. If you missed that, kindly read it up as it will serve as a guide for this post.  That said, I am pear shaped and by the way and come to think of it, who even wants to be hourglass with a bust of 36? Words of consolation abi? But I sure played around with my current stats and hourglass means bigger boobs which I no want or smaller hips, Hmmm.....abeg am even applying for hip self. Please note that pear shape doesn't mean over weight. A pear shape can be a UK 2 to 22 and same goes for all body shapes.
Well... Beyonce! Kelly Clarkson, Shakira, J.Lo ( I love the last two) are few pear shaped celebs so who wants hourglass I muss again.

I tried to come up with some real classy ways to style a pear shaped body.

So if you are one like me, then let's go dia.............
DRESSES
I have been told countless times that pants fit me better than dresses. I know that too well even deep within me but boy! I JUST LOVE DRESSES. So yes, am on a hunt for dresses that will accentuate my figure. *singing make you follow me bumper to bumper
Have lots of details at the top part of your dress from bulky embellishments, laces, ruffles, pleats and even beaded bodice...just add volume to the top.

Accentuate your waist line. Oh yes!!! Eucharia Anunobi said "if you've got it, flaunt it" and you know say you get am naaa. Kimon!!! So show off those slender waistline with dresses that clinch your waist and flares gently over the hips to draw attention to your curves and give you a sexy hourglass illusion.

Wear empire dresses. Empire dresses are dresses with flattering fitted bodice that ends just under the bust. These highlight the waist and pulls attention upwards.

Plunge neckline. A deeper plunging neckline elongates your upper body and draws attention upwards. Also consider dresses that show off your shoulders. Off shoulder, halter necks, boat and wide necklines are also great.

Shirt dresses. Especially those with sleeves works very well in downplaying bulges, and flatters most body shapes particularly pear-shape but try to go for one in a stiffer fabric instead of flimsy ones which tend to be more unforgiving of heavy bottoms.

TOPS AND BLOUSES
Same as applicable to the top part of your dress. Fitted tops are a must e.g. wrap tops or empire tops, breast pockets. Boat, bardot, square necks, cowl and off shoulder tops are also great as they draw attention upwards. Wear fitted tops (not so tight) that end just on top of your hips. Wear fun and bright colours, bold prints, and add layers where necessary.

SKIRTS
Minis and tight skirts are tempting huh? but those aren't really your best friends. They will only emphasize those large areas we are trying to play down. Stay away from pleats, side pockets, or anything that is going to add dimension to this area.A-line skirts flatter the pear shaped the most. Pencil skirts are great too but please please, avoid LYCRA by all mean. Baggy and frumpy looking skirts are best avoided also. Keep to the knees and avoid mid calf skirts.

PANTS
Wear pants or jeans that have a flare on the bottom as they draws the eye away from your hips and creates a more flattering line for your whole body. Avoid capri or tapered pants. Choose darker shades of denim that will give more of a slimming effect. Darker blues, dark greys, blacks and browns are the best shades to work with and will still give you that classical denim jeans look. Jeans with fading below the knee can also work well for you.

FASHION WISHLIST

Hello Sweet Sweet!!

You guys have really been an inspiration. Thanks for taking the time to drop by my blog. Today we will be talking about  fashion wishlist. Of course, if wishes were horses, .................... you sabi the rest naa.

Finacial, academic, psychological, chemical, biological, therapeutic research (nwanne supu grammar) has shown that a normal and yes a normal woman can never enter a shopping mall and buy exactly the number of fashion items she pre-planned for if she has enough money in her wallet. Have u ever been to the mall and you go.....chai if only I have enough money right now or wow!!!! This is beautiful, I wish I have enough money right now. Well, we asked around and I also penned some of my opinion on what a fashion list looks like.

Office dresses.
In the spirit of discipline, I have to put this as my topmost priority as I am an 8 to 5 girl. Boy, I wish I could go a full year without reapeating a single dress. That's how badly I want it. Just look professional, feminine and chic.

Red carpet gowns as I call them although I think its called cocktail dress. Abeg correct me if I de wrong. You know waraimean? There are different dresses for different occasions (another topic for another day) Don't get caught wearing your work cloth to a semi formal event. Remember, dress shabbily and they remember the dress, dress impeccably and they remember the woman - coco Chanel.

Shoes. Some people are so addicted that they almost never pass up a shoe sale. Can I say I blame them? Of course not. Give a girl the right shoes and she can conquer the world. Shoes are just a must have for every list ranging from classic pumps to platforms, wedges, courts and even ballerina flats. When I say shoes, of course I also mean sandals and slip ons.

Jackets/ Blazers. You can never go wrong with a pair of denim. Go on, nail the season with some cool selections.

Clutch bags. Get glam with clutch bags from embellished box designs to envelope clutches.

Shoulder bags. *scratchhead. A real Hermes won't be bad right? *winks

Braided wigs. Easy, stress free, back ache free, long sitting hours free, everything free and edge protecting braids. If you are a braid lover like me, make sure you get one.

Fragrance. My list for this is endless so make I no just start.

Strapless bra. THIS IS A MUST HAVE ladies pleeasee. I kneel down de beg this one. It is an offence, a serious crime punishable by law for you and your bra (as separate entities) to be found at an event.

Skirts. Always a key player in a girl's wardrobe. Add a new piece to ur collection.

Pants. Find a pair that fits every time  from work pants and casuals to cropped and skinny pants. Pay attention to the flap though. Those extra bulges are not pleasant.....eww.

Human hairs. If u can get the real deal, they are absolutely worth it.

Belts. Gone are the days when belts were used to conceal the fact that you de wear mama dash me. They are used this days to make bold fashion statement.

Tops and blouses. This is actually the first thing about your outfit to be noticed. So, make this first impression count. The good thing about them is that a single blouse can be styled in plenty different ways.

Accessories. The wonders of accessoriesare far too great. Ever bought a dress and your first impression about it is that of going to aswani market with it? Lolzzzzz. Well.... My advice, add a dash of accessories and you will be surprised as to how alive the dress has become.

Maternity trousers. For those peeping and asking questions, let's be clear. Am not pregnant ooo. At least not yet. I didn't callthis my own fashion wish list. This is a fair representation of a woman's wish list so my dear moms-to-be are not left out. Being pregnant is not been sentenced to a life of leggings. There are lots of stylish n trendy maternity pants to choose from...... LOOK HOT nwa agadi. *smilesmischeviously

Sunglasses. So we re clear,  there is a reason its called a SUNglass.

If you gave more suggestions to what a fashion wish list should look like, please kindly hit the comment box. Thanks darl.

STYLE TIPS FOR PETITE WOMEN

Hello Sweet Sweet!!

Are you under 5' 4" (162cm) tall? Then by the fashion industry’s guidelines you are considered petite. Dressing as a petite doesn't have to be difficult and if you ever felt that being shorter than average stands in your way of looking absolutely fabulous, then sweetheart, think again! Victoria Beckham, Nicole Richie, Eva Longoria, Rita Dominic and even our own Gennevive Nnaji are some very famous and fabulous women under 1.65m (5’4”) looking stunning. Below are many simple guidelines you can follow that accentuate your natural figure:

The two-thirds-one-third rule. Proportionality comes into play here. Don't wear outfits that split up your body at the middle, creating two halves. Instead, wear bottoms that cover two thirds of your body and shirts that cover one-third.

Wear monochrome outfits. This is the easiest way to enhance the illusion of height as it helps create a vertical line. Choose an outfit with the same color family and keep each silhouette crisp and tailored.

Wear figure-conscious clothes. Not necessarily skin-tight, breadth suffocating outfits but you don't want your petite frame to be hidden by layers of extra cloth - this will just make you look shorter and wider.

Wear vertical stripes. They create long lines, thus making you appear longer. Vertical Stripes outfits are the best friends of petite woman. Vertical stripes pants, jeans, skirts, dresses, shorts or suits make you look taller along with giving you a slimmer look. You can wear striped dress with open straight jacket and cardigans.

Tuck in your shirts and blouses. This is an easy way to get your clothes to fit closer to your figure.
Wear a belt the same color as your pants. Seems like some sort of magic doesn't it? Well, it is! According to fashion experts it makes your legs look longer as it is continuing the vertical line of your pants.

Wear heels. This is probably the easiest way to actually change your height - experiment with platform heels, wedges, booties, knee high boots and pumps, and pair with pants that end about a 1/4" above the ground in order to take full advantage of the boost they give you.

Wear high-waisted skirts and pants. Believe it or not, high-waist pants or shorts are extremely flattering for petite ladies. An elevated waist can trick the eye into thinking you have an elongated body. Always tuck in your top with high-waisted bottoms or go for a crop top.

Wear blazers and jackets with perfect fit. When choosing a blazer and jacket, always make sure the seams sit perfectly at the bony tops of your shoulders and that the sleeves hit exactly at your wrist – delicate wrists and soft forearms with three-quarter length sleeves are such a good idea

V-necklines – especially the plunging one – or U-shaped necklines aid in creating the illusion of height, as it elongate your neck and give the illusion of a longer, leaner torso. Or you can go with plunging necklaces or statement necklaces formed like V shape to give the same illusion as V-necks.

Cropped jeans can be perfect for petites, as long as they’re proportioned right, like these cute crops. They hit at just the right spot – above the ankle – and they look great with heels or with flats, for a more casual look.

Empire Waist. It delivers optimum results for a petite. The main advantage to this dress style is that it does not cut your figure in half at your natural waistline. By moving the waistline underneath your bust line, it automatically elongates and leans out your frame.

Don’t get caught in between. Either go super-long, or super-short. Mini-skirts show more skin, which creates the illusion of a longer leg. Of course, if you’re wearing a mini, make sure it’s not offensively short—let’s keep it chic, ladies.

Buttoned shirt dresses that stop just above or on top of the knee will create a nice vertical line as well.

Avoid big purses and gigantic shoulder bags. They can dwarf the person carrying them. Keeping your accessories appropriately scaled to your body size is a smart move for petite girls.

HOW TO KNOW YOUR BODY SHAPE

Hello Sweet Sweet!!

The female body shape – Hmmm. Where do I begin from? Often times, we’ve seen trending styles on celebrities and we go…. Oh!!!!!!!!! Gennevive (Sorry ooo I keep calling her name. Me jus like the babe) just slayed it and the next thing, we embark on the rigorous hunt of getting the outfit if we have the money or at least getting something similar. The truth is, there are different clothes suitable for different body shapes. You need to understand your body shape to know if what fits Miss A will fit you. So sweerie, keep calm and read through and don’t forget to thank me later *winks.

Female body shape or female figure is the cumulative product of a woman's skeletal structure and the quantity and distribution of muscle and fat on the body. As with most physical traits, there is a wide range of normality of female body shapes. There are basically different female body shapes:

Hourglass: Hourglass shaped women have well-proportioned upper and lower bodies with a narrow waist. They are inclined to gain weight all over the body in particular the hips and chest area.

Triangle (Pear or spoon): Pear shaped women have hips, thighs and butt as the body's center-stage. You don't necessarily need a big booty to be a Pear, but your lower body is more prominent (or call it bottom-heavy) than your waist and bust.

Rectangular (Ruler): People with this type of shape have straight shoulder line and ribcage, Straight hips and bottom, Very little waist definition, Average tummy.

Apple (Diamond): The apple shaped woman carries most her body fat in the abdominal region. She will generally have narrow hips, larger breasts, and a relatively large waist. Apple-shaped women have more fat surrounding their internal organs.

Inverted triangle (V-shape): To be a V shape, your shoulders need to be wider than your hips, by a good couple of inches. You may or may not have a waist, many V shapes have a shorter waist.

The truth is, a lot of people think they have the hourglass shape by merely looking at the mirror but rather unfortunate, the truth is far fetched (am Not a saddist though).

A lil assignment: You can use the link body shape calculator to check your body shape and leave us feedback in the comment section.
Sadly, I checked mine and am pear shaped *tearsrollingdownmycheeks

WAIST TRAINERS: TO CINCH AND TO CINCH NOT?

Hello Sweet Sweet!!

Today we will be discussing the waist cinchers or the waist trainers as they are popularly called around here. Of course every lady craves for that hourglass shape: that slender, sleek, shapy body. I for one love to look curvy. The best solution so far remains exercise which is a rather slow, exhaustive, time consuming, diet enslaving journey. Here comes the waist trainers - oh!!! so easy to use, result oriented and as a matter of fact, a miracle or so to say. But as my mum will always say "Ihe niile nwere uru nwere oghom" meaning that whatever has an advantage also has a disadvantage. So just before you order that waist trainer that has been beckoning on you, please spare some time to read through the benefits and the risks.

What is a waist cincher?
A waist cincher (sometimes referred to as a Waist trainer) is essentially, bands of material that wrap tightly around the waist and lower rib cage to provide an instantly slimming, hourglass look.
Companies that sell fitness waist cinchers claim that they compress your core, ramp up perspiration, release toxins, and metabolize fat. The tight fit also restricts your abdomen, reducing your food intake during the day. Advocates assert that these garments will help you lose fat and inches from your waist.

Types of waist cinchers

There are several types of waist cinchers available on the market. While some products are best for increasing thermal activity in the midsection, others are best for more traditional waist training.
Traditional corsets have laces on the back and are made of cotton, while cinchers are usually made of latex or cotton and have hook-and-eye closures in the front.
Workout cinchers, are made of stronger materials that can be worn during exercise. “Cinchers like this stimulate perspiration in the midsection, but they are not designed to be worn for an extended period of time.
Benefits
  •  Achieve an attractive hourglass shape and sculpt your body exactly the way you want it to look.

  • According to Caroline Apovian, M.D., professor of medicine at Boston University School of Medicine and a spokesperson for The Obesity Society, “wearing a waist cincher may help boost some women’s confidence and encourage them to exercise and eat healthy. If you look in the mirror and like what you see, it can potentially be a good thing.”

  • During workouts waist training can increase body temperature, causing you to sweat more and this might temporarily show up as weight loss,” says Dr Galyna Selezneva, an aesthetic medical doctor at Dr Rita Rakus, a cosmetic clinic in London.

  • Wearing a waist cincher for a long time could give the wearer the advantage of back support and posture control because of the binding and cinching effect by providing abdominal support, which can be helpful in reminding wear them you to sit up straight throughout the day or not to overeat.
Risks

  • According to Dr. Katie Nason, a cardiothoracic surgeon at the University of Pittsburgh, constricting the abdomen and torso could impair lung function by restricting the amount of space available for the lungs to expand into the abdomen and fill with air. “When the lungs don’t expand…they don’t exchange oxygen or expel carbon dioxide, and the person is short of breath.”
  • With waist training, the upper organs move upwards, and the lower organs shift downwards,” says Dr Galyna. “This can then put a similar pressure on the abdomen – which has been known to cause constipation. A shift in the pressure on your internal organs means you will be less tolerant of certain foods, including gas-producing and fatty foods, and some individuals might find that normal portion sizes are too much. All of this can also increase the chances of heartburn as your stomach shifts up beyond your diaphragm causing acid reflux.” Things that happen when you go on waist training. A) Normal position of internal organs.  B) Deformed by waist cinchers
  • If started at a young age before the body and muscles have fully developed, waist training could have potentially permanent health risks for young people. It is absolutely not advisable to start waist training while you are still growing into an adult
  • Waist training can have some serious health risks due to compression – such as skin infections, pulmonary problems, kidney issues and lung issues,” says Lemon.
  • Squishing your abdominal organs — such as your liver, kidneys and intestines — can decrease their blood flow and function,” says Dr. Thomas.

In Conclusion, waist cincher only makes you look slimmer while you are wearing it. This is because wearing a waist cincher will have no effect on the amount of body fat that you have. In order to get long-term results from waist training, you would need to wear the corset all the time of which their consequences.

Starting a Waist-Training Regimen
After understanding the benefits and risks of waist training and you decide to try it, there is a proper way to begin a regimen:
  •  A big part of the process is listening to your body and only wearing the waist
  • Buy the proper size and add more time gradually, many can wear waist trainers for 8 to 10 hours a day.

There are lots of waist trainers online. Just make sure you choose the right one. Click here to buy

................... Can't keep calm!!!!!!!!!!!! Yeah Yeah yeah! It's my first Niece's first birthday. Happy birthday Zitel Luv. You shall indeed be great!!!!!!!!!

......Making it big as a fashion blogger

Step five: Discover Your Voice

Don’t be a copycat! "Have your own voice and your own style"  Give people new things to look at and get excited about and make sure they are things you’re excited about, too. It’s so important to be YOU. Your posts should define you too

Step six: Collaborate, Collaborate, Collaborate

It’s one of the most effective ways to get some exposure and followers. Get people with similar passion and interests (other fashion and beauty bloggers, designers, etc.) to collaborate with and don't be selfish. Check other peoples blogs, make comments and share if need be. You can also join some blogger groups and offer your sincere knowledge when needed

Blogging often requires hours of solitude to craft those meaningful posts that resonate with readers, but it takes a village for your blog to truly become successful. At some point, you’ll exhaust your network of family and friends. That means you have to network with your fellow bloggers. - See more at: http://downtowndemure.com/2015/06/13/8-tips-for-becoming-a-successful-fashion-blogger/#sthash.5yRC7gIS.dpuf

But don’t network in the icky, self-serving way. Truly invest in your fellow bloggers. Join their mailing lists, comment on and share their blog posts, and feature them in the #followfriday shout outs in social media.  Do ALL the things you hope for someone else to do for your blog (Jesus’ golden rule extends to blogging as well).
Join blogging groups with like-minded women who aim to encourage and help each other succeed. My absolute favorite group is the Peony Project. If you’re a Christian female blogger, you should join this group ASAP.
Weekly link-ups (or blog hops) are another excellent way to meet and support fellow bloggers. But don’t just drop a link and dash. Not only is that a selfish approach to link-ups (and a sure way to annoy the link-up host), it’s a waste of an opportunity to network. So share your link and then visit at least 2 other blogs from that link up.
