RELATIONSHIP PROBLEMS AND SOLUTIONS

Hello Sweet Sweet!!

Even though every relationship has its ups and downs, successful couples have learned how to manage the bumps and keep their love life going. If you recognize ahead of time though, what those relationship problems might be, you'll have a much better chance of getting past them. Many do this by reading self-help books and articles, attending seminars, going to counseling, observing other successful couples, or simply using trial and error. Everyone's relationships are different. But sometimes we face similar issues.Whatever you're going through in your relationship, it can be comforting to know that you're not alone. Unless you address problems, the same lack of skills that got in the way now will be there and still cause problems no matter what relationship you're in. Below are some practical tips to help you with the most common relationship problems.

Problem: Communication
Communication provides the basis for either a great relationship or an average one. All relationship problems stem from poor communication. The way people talk (or don't talk) to one another can cause a lot of distress and tension within a relationship. When one partner adopts a demanding, intrusive or pushy communication style, the other partner may withdraw or refuse to communicate in response.

Problem-solving strategies:
  • Make an actual appointment with each other..
  • If you can't "communicate" without screaming, go to a public spot like restaurant where you'd be embarrassed to scream.
  • Try not to interrupt until your partner is through speaking.
  • Use body language to show you're listening.  Nod so the other person knows you're getting the message, and rephrase if you need to.
  • Remove all distractions when trying to communicate
  • If unsure or upset about what your partner said, summarize back what you have heard and check for accuracy before you speak in reply.
  • Do not blame or label your partner as lazy, uncaring etc but rather focus on the problem behaviors.
  • Build your partner up and use encouraging words when speaking:
Problem: Sex (For married couples only)
Even partners who love each other can be a mismatch sexually. A lack of sexual self-awareness and education worsens these problems. But having sex is one of the last things you should give up (for married couple only as I do not in anyway promote fornication). Sex brings us closer together, releases hormones that help our bodies both physically and mentally, and keeps the chemistry of a healthy couple healthy."
Problem-solving strategies:
  • Plan ahead, make appointments, but not necessarily at night when everyone is tired.
  • Changing things up a bit can make sex more fun too. Try something different often
  • Learn what truly turns you and your partner on
  • If your sexual relationship problems can't be resolved on your own, consult a qualified sex therapist to help you both address and resolve your issues.
Problem: Money
Financial indecision can lead to major problems in the structural integrity of relationships. Its recommended that couples who have money issues take a deep breath, have a serious conversation about finances and ask themselves the questions below.
How do you decide about money? Individually or together? How do you decide about how money should be earned and spent? Who pays the bills? How much goes to savings, to charity and for expenses? How are expensive decisions (tuition, childcare, mortgage, car purchase) made? Is each person expected to bring an income?

Problem-solving strategies:
  • Be honest about your current financial situation. Don't hide income or debt
  • Live according to your income.
  • Set aside a time that is convenient and non-threatening for both of you to discuss financial issues.
  • If one partner is a saver and one a spender, understand there are benefits to both, and agree to learn from each other.
  • Don't trade blame.
  • Construct a joint budget that includes savings.
  • Decide which person will be responsible for paying the monthly bills.
  • Allow each person to have independence by setting aside money to be spent at his or her discretion.
  • Decide upon short-term and long-term goals. It's OK to have individual goals, but you should have family goals, too.
  • Talk about caring for your parents as they age and how to appropriately plan for their financial needs if needed.
Problem: Home Chores
This is also a major issue especially among married or live-in couple. So it's important to fairly divide the labor at home.

Problem-solving strategies:
  • Write all the jobs down and agree on who does what. Be fair so no resentment builds.
  • Be open to your partner's solutions.
  • If you both hate housework, maybe you can opt for a cleaning service.
Problem: Neglect
Relationships lose their luster. Research shows that the foundation of a happy relationship is friendship. This friendship needs to be nurtured because if neglected it will inevitably deteriorate. Work pressures, other personal issues, the demands of parenting, and the general busyness of life may limit spending the necessary time together and as a result couples drift apart.

 Problem-solving strategies:
  • Do the things you used to do when you were first dating:
  • Show appreciation, compliment each other, contact each other through the day, and show interest in each other.
  • Plan date nights. Schedule time together on the calendar just as you would any other important event in your life.
  • Respect one another.
  • Say "thank you," and "I appreciate..." It lets your partner know that they matter.
Problem: Conflict
Occasional conflict is a part of life but if the same situations keep repeating day after day, it becomes a huge problem. Conflicts often begin when those differences that we knew were there in the early stages of our relationship, become challenging. It is really important that this conflict is dealt with in a way that doesn't drive your partner away or leave a build-up of resentment. When you make the effort, you can lessen the anger and take a calm look at underlying issues.

Problem-solving strategies:
  • You and your partner can learn to argue in a more civil, helpful manner
  • Realize you are not a victim. It is your choice whether you react and how you react.
  • When you're in the midst of an argument, your comments should be geared toward resolving the conflict not payback.
  •  If your comments are blaming and hurtful, it's best to take a deep breath and change your strategy.
  • Change your response pattern.
  • If you usually jump right in to defend yourself while your partner is speaking, hold off for a few moments.
  •  Apologize when you're wrong.
Problem: Trust
Trust is a key part of a relationship. Lack of trust stems either when you see certain things that cause you not to trust your partner or you have unresolved issues that prevent you from trusting others.
Problem-solving strategies:
  • Be consistent and on time.
  • Do what you say you will do.
  • Don't lie -- not even little white lies to your partner or to others.
  • Be fair, even in an argument.
  • Be sensitive to the others' feelings. You can still disagree, but don't discount how your partner is feeling.
  • Call when you say you will  and always call to say you'll be home late.
  • Carry your fair share of the workload.
  • Don't overreact when things go wrong.
  • Never say things you can't take back.
  • Don't dig up old wounds.
  • Respect your partner's boundaries.
  • Don’t be jealous.
  • Be a good listener.
Problem: Criticism
This is when someone points to their partner and says their personality or character is the problem. Criticism is staging the problem in a relationship as a character flaw in a partner. Criticism is a form of ego defense.
Ladies, are you listening?

Problem-solving strategies:
  • If you are the critic, decide to stop your criticism.
  • Work at accepting your partner and even his/her annoying traits, harmless bad habits.
  • Accept the fact that you will not change your partner.
  • If you are the “criticized” partner, decide to stop coping and object each time your partner criticizes you.
  • Listen and understand the critic's point of view. Don’t just nod while you formulate your response.
  • Don’t be defensive except its absolutely necessary.
  • Don’t respond by criticizing your critic. The impulse to justify and attack is strong when you feel criticized, but it just isn’t helpful, and it certainly isn’t effective.
  • Delay your reaction till you have everything under control.
  • Explain honestly the reason for your actions.
  • Admit your mistake.
  • Show the critic that you’ve learned something and you prove that you’ve understood the criticism and tried to act on it. That, itself, usually mollifies critics.

Problem: Contempt
Contempt expresses the feeling of dislike toward somebody and implies that the other person is considered worthless and undeserving of respect. Contempt is conveyed through insults, name-calling, tone of voice, as well as facial expressions. Contempt eats away at a relationship rapidly and painfully. Contempt is talking down to their partner, being insulting or acting superior.

Problem-solving strategies:
  • Always redirect your thought about your partner to something positive about the person.
  • Train yourself to practice empathy instead of contempt.
  • Instead of doing little things that show contempt, do things that show kindness and thoughtfulness.
  • Forgive, Forgive and Forget!!!!!!
Problem: Lack of support
In order for a relationship to survive and flourish each partner needs to feel that they are receiving adequate support. Having these needs met is a combination of both having realistic expectations about your partners ability to meet your needs and creating and environment where they are aware of and able to meet your needs for support.

Problem-solving strategies:
  • Identify what your needs for support are:
  • Communicate clearly to your partner your expectations and check they understand:
  • Maintain a gentle and forgiving attitude, and do not expect too much - that way you'll be pleasantly surprised when things work out the way you had hoped they would.

BEAUTY PARLOUR: HABITS THAT DAMAGE YOUR SKIN

Hello Sweet Sweet!!

The skin is really a delicate organ and the way you treat it is the way it responds. Taking care of our skin is a serious business but do you know that despite the exfoliating and moisturizing and spa treatments and what have you, there may be little little things you overlook that undermine your efforts. Having healthy, gorgeous skin is caused by more than just what you’re putting on it during your skincare routine. Today, we ll look at some of those habits (and yes!!!! most of us are guilty) that damage the skin

Too Many Skincare Products
If you have problem skin or you want to prevent skin issues, you might think you need to use many different skincare products to keep your skin healthy. But this can backfire as too much makeup  aggravates your skin. Keep your skincare routine to a minimum and avoid harsh products in favor of naturally-based ones that are gentler on your skin.

 Alcohol
Consuming too much alcohol will dehydrate your skin. Dry skin will get wrinkles faster and will look dull and flaky.

Chlorine
It keeps the pool clean of bacteria, but it dries it out and bleaches your skin damaging the melanin in the process. Next time you wash after a swim, make sure to scrub yourself thoroughly with soap as chlorine clings to your skin.
Over-exfoliating:
Exfoliation can increase circulation to the skin and clear out dead skin cells adding a health shine to your face without damaging or irritating the underlying skin cells that are not yet ready to be pulled away. It also stimulates cell turnover which is beneficial for the skin renewal process. However over- exfoliation can lead to redness, inflammation, irritation and breakouts and also remove the natural oils the skin needs, taking away from its shine.

Frowning:
Like stress and squinting, frowning causes wrinkles. Give your face a rest and prevent (or at least delay) the appearance of these unwanted wrinkles.

Too much sugar:
Sugar breaks down collagen and elastin, the skin’s two powerhouse proteins that help to keep it looking smooth, firm and supple. Eating a high sugar diet—including refined carbohydrates—gives bacteria fuel and can cause spikes of insulin release, which triggers inflammation. If you want skin that looks youthful, reconsider your sweet tooth.

Stress
Stress can cause the appearance of stress-lines that end up as wrinkles, as well as blemishes, dullness and rashes. It can lead to breakouts and skin condition flare-ups, such as eczema. Try to find healthy ways to deal with stress, such as deep breathing and going for walks in nature.
Using Your Phone A Lot
Your phone transfers bacteria it picks up from tables, in your handbag and other places, to your skin which can lead to bad breakouts especially along the jawline. This is especially problematic if you use your phone for many hours a day. Consider carrying antibacterial wipes and clean your phone as often as you can.

Too Much Caffeine
Caffeine will dehydrate your skin. Dry skin also makes your wrinkles more pronounced, so try to cut down your caffeine intake and switch to a hot drink that’s more hydrating and soothing to skin

Inadequate Sleep
Sleep is an important part of your day because it’s when your body heals and repairs itself, creates new collagen and boosts blood circulation to your skin so that you wake up with a glowing complexion. So try and get at least 8 hours of sleep daily as inadequate sleep can get your skin dull and clog your pores

Going To Bed With Your Makeup On
Allow your skin breathe especially at night. Makeup clogs your pores, which can cause breakouts. Also stale makeup that stays on your face is a breeding ground for bacteria leading to acne and zits.

Pressing pimples
Everyone hate pimples!!! So we are often tempted to pop them right away abi?? But popping them is really not a choice when it comes to your skin. When you pop pimples, you actually push more dirt and bacteria into your pores, which leads to more outbreaks. If you really feel the need to pop a zit, wash your face and hands thoroughly, use fresh tissue paper to cover your finger each time, and finish with a disinfectant like rubbing alcohol.

Excess salt
Salt as in NNU!!!! Sodium absorbs moisture, and when it comes to your skin, that means too much of it can lead to dry, flaky skin. Avoid foods that are rich in salt and keep hydrated.

Excessive Waxing
Waxing is a great way to remove excess hair but it also leaves your skin raw and bumpy. Allow ample time between each waxing session, especially in sensitive areas.

Pillowcases
Change your pillowcase often. Wash at least once a week. Preferably, use satin pillowcase. pillowcases regularly and wash them with bleach if possible

HEALTHY LIVING: FRUITS THAT HELP YOU LOOSE WEIGHT

Hello Sweet Sweet!!

 http://i.dailymail.co.uk/i/pix/2015/05/12/13/2893BD9800000578-3077993-image-m-42_1431435084651.jpg

Weight loss is just a simple math:  you need to eat fewer calories than you burn. Eating more fruit and vegetable is essential both for good health and weight loss. Most fruits and vegetables are low in calories and fat, and high in fibre – three essential ingredients for successful weight loss.
Research also shows we tend to eat the same volume or weight of food every day, regardless of its calorie content. So if we want to lose weight, it’s crucial to stick to lower calorie foods to make up this volume.
Fruit sometimes gets a bad reputation in the weight loss world because it has sugar. However, they contain many nutrients that are beneficial to your health and can also help make up the volume of food required while eating fewer calories
Here are the top 10 fruits for weight loss:

1) Watermelon
Watermelon is high in water content (90%) and a 100g serving just contains 30 calories. They’re also a rich source of amino acids called arginine which helps burn fat. The best thing about watermelon, however, is the fact that not only does it keep you hydrated, it will also keep you full for a long time which will lead to less unhealthy snacking.

2) Guava
Guava is high in fibre and its glycemic index is low, making it perfect for diabetics as well. Along with that, it keeps our bowel movements prim and proper which aids the overall weight loss process.

3) Apple
If you’re on a weight loss diet, then you certainly need the apple in your menu. One medium-sized apple contains around 50 calories and doesn’t have any fat or sodium.

4) Banana
With about 105 calories per piece, the average banana is an excellent source of instant energy and the perfect post-workout food. It also helps beat muscle cramps, keeps your BP in check, prevents acidity and even beats constipation. Bananas are high in both fiber and potassium, which can help aid in weight loss.

5) Pear
The pear fulfils one quarter of your daily fibre requirement and is great for your digestive system. It also helps reduce cholesterol levels, reduces the risk of coronary heart diseases and type II diabetes. The high fiber content helps you to feel full, which aids weight loss.

6) Oranges
100g of orange only contains 47 calories which is great for someone looking for a snack while trying to follow a strict diet and they provide you with fiber which is not present in its juice form. . It’s also sweet which will help take care of the cravings every dieter has for something sweet! Believe it or not but one cup of orange has only 85 calories and 5 grams of dietary fiber.

7) Tomatoes
Yeah, tomatoes are fruits not vegetables and they’re a just perfect for your weight loss battle. They’re delicious, full of antioxidants and reduce water retention. They also reverse leptin resistance (leptin is a type of protein which prevents our body from losing weight)

N.B: Ketchup – which is loaded with synthetic stuff and sugars – don’t count as tomatoes.

8) Strawberries
Strawberries are a great weight loss fruit because strawberries promote the production of the hormones adiponectin and leptin, both of which are fat-burning hormones and metabolic boosters.Strawberries also have anti-inflammatory enzymes, which can help heal internal injuries or even tissue damage.

9)Grape
Research shows that by eating half a grapefruit before a meal, you can increase your weight loss.Grapefruit is low in calories with just about 37 calories in a half a grapefruit and it is high in fiber! However, eating grapefruit all day is not the best thing.

10) Coconut
Coconut is a very sweet and filling snack that can be consumed as coconut oil, water, milk and even as dry fruit. It contains chains of triglycerides that raise the metabolic rate of the liver up to 30 percent, therefore helping you lose weight. Although many people stay clear of coconuts because they are high in saturated fats, they don't realize that the saturated fat in coconuts is completely different from the saturated fat that we all try to avoid. Coconut oil is is a fat that is made up of medium chain fatty acids that and is not stored in our bodies as fat!

11) Pomegranates
Pomegranate is a great source of dietary fiber. They consist of around 11.3g fibre per fruit providing 45% of the daily need of dietary fiber. Pomegranate contains 83 calories in 100 g of serving. It is absolutely free of cholesterol and saturated fats.
12) Pawpaw
Pawpaw contains an enzyme called papine which promotes faster transit of food through the gut, helping to shed weight.

WHY YOU SHOULD INCLUDE OATS IN YOUR MEAL

Hello Sweet Sweet!!

So i recently found new love in quaker oats and you know naaa in a bid to give my self a reason to indulge myself, i decided to find out the benefits of oat meal. Here are few reasons you should join me in this new found love of mine.

Decreases Cholesterol Level.
Have you ever heard of soluble fiber? Well, compared to other grains, oats actually have the highest portion of soluble fiber. Soluble fiber helps your intestinal tract trap substances associated with blood cholesterol. Studies show that people with high blood cholesterol who eat just 3g of soluble fiber per day can reduce their total cholesterol by 8% to 23% (remember that one cup of oats yields 4 g)!
Aids Digestion
The soluble fibers in oatmeal are taken apart in the lower intestine by resident bacteria. Those fibers that were not taken apart increase the volume of food and hasten bowel movements. This method decreases the likelihood of inflammatory diseases in the lower intestine.

Improves Sleep.

Oats contain melatonin and complex carbohydrates that can help more tryptophan get into the brain and help you sleep. Oatmeal also contains many vitamins, including B6, which is a co-factor that also aids in the production of more serotonin in the brain.

Reduces Blood Sugar Levels
The soluble fibers in oats slow down the absorption of carbohydrates, preventing sharp increases in blood sugar levels. Research shows that consuming about 1 cup of cooked oatmeal a day, 2-4 times a week, will  decrease the risk of type II diabetes by 16%
Aids in Weight Loss.
β-glucan found in oatmeal reduces appetite by increasing the hunger-fighting hormone cholecystokinin. In addition, the fibers slow the digestion process and give us a feeling of being full for longer periods of time thus reducing our eating habit and helps us stay slim.

Reduces Blood Pressure.
We all know that heart disease is a major problem in North America and throughout the world. Study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that a diet which includes plenty of whole-grains (such as oats or wholemeal bread) is just as effective as taking anti-hypertensive medication to lower blood pressure!

Nourishes And Protects Skin.
If you look closely on the labels of some of your lotions or face creams, you probably will see oatmeal in there. This power food has been used as a soothing agent to relieve itch and irritation while also providing an array of benefits for the skin as well as normalizing the skin's pH. The starchiness of oats creates a barrier that allows the skin to hold its moisture, while the rougher fibrous husk of the oat acts as a gentle exfoliant.

Decreases The Risk Of Colon Cancer.
Cancer of the colon is horrible and can be very painful. Research shows that for every additional 10 grams of fiber in a person's diet, there is a 10% reduction in their risk of developing colorectal cancer! Oatmeal is a good source of fibre.

Enhances Immune Response To Disease.
Oatmeal has been heavily studied in relation to the immune system’s response to disease and infection. Essentially, because of oatmeal’s unique fiber called beta-glucan, it helps neutrophils travel to the site of an infection more quickly and enhances their ability to eliminate the bacteria found there.

A Very Good Antioxidant.
Oatmeal is loaded with antioxidants called avenanthramides, which are unique to oats. Antioxidants are important because they protect your cells from free radicals, which are molecules you produce through metabolism and exposure to environmental toxins. Avenanthramides antioxidants inhibit inflammation and boost your production of nitric oxide, which prevents hardening of your arteries.

Lowers The Risk Of Cardiovascular Disease
Foods rich in whole oat sources of soluble fiber have been linked to good heart health. Oatmeal contains both calcium and potassium which are known to reduce blood pressure numbers.Whole grain consumption is associated with a reduced risk of coronary heart disease due to its soluble fiber.

........PAUSE..........READ.....DIGEST.....JUST BEFORE YOU BUY THAT SKIN LIGHTENING CREAM

Hello Sweet Sweet!!

It is no longer news that lots of women today are just uncomfortable in their skin colour. With lots and lots of over exposure to celebrities and their air brushed images, the quest for a lighter and flawless skin has become and addiction for many.
Skin lightening, fading, toning, bleaching or whatever is you decide to call it a process of changing the colour of the skin to something lighter or cleaner as some tend to call it. I will rather you embrace your skin colour and love yourself just the way you are. But if you really wish to lighten your colour, then here are few facts you should know before you purchase that bottle or tube.

  • Skin lightening is not permanent or a one time application. It requires continuous use
  • Skin lightening creams work by reducing the melanin production in your skin
  • Ensure you read the active ingredients and method of application
  • Be sure how you will react to the ingredients before use. Its always advisable to do a patch test on a small area of your skin
  • Seek professional advice or prescription
  • Ensure you read the side effects stated on the product
  • Its preferable to buy notable brands as these tend to experiment on their products before unleashing to the market.
Now  that you know what to do. Let's go over some of the ingredients used in these products

Hydroquinone: is a very strong ingredient and can cause hypopigmentation, which is a complete lack of colour in the skin. It can also make skin more sensitive and thinner, as well as causing inflammation which triggers other effects - including more pigmentation. It doesn’t give you that even colour. Some concerns about hydroquinone's safety on skin have been expressed, but the research when it comes to topical application indicates negative reactions are minor or a result of using extremely high concentrations. The risks easily outweigh the benefits.

Arbutin: This ingredient is actually a natural source of hydroquinone (derived from the leaves of bearberry, cranberry, mulberry or blueberry shrubs) but when used on it’s own is a much healthier alternative. There are three types of arbutin used in skin bleaching products: Alpha-arbutin, beta-arbutin, and deoxy-arbutin, with Alpha-arbutin being the most effective and stable agent. All three types however have the ability to inhibit melanin, and have been medically proven to be safe and effective agents for lightening skin. Pure forms of arbutin are considered more potent for affecting skin lightening.

Kojic acid: is a by-product in the fermentation process of malting rice for use in the manufacturing of Japanese rice wine. Some research shows kojic acid to be effective for inhibiting melanin production. However, kojic acid is an unstable ingredient in cosmetic formulations. Upon exposure to air or sunlight it can turn brown and lose its efficacy. However, some controversial research has suggested that kojic acid may have carcinogenic properties in large doses.

Alpha hydroxy acids: are naturally-occurring ingredients found in different foods: citrus fruits, sugar cane, sour milk primarily in the form of lactic acid and glycolic acid. It is generally assumed that in and of themselves AHAs in concentrations of 4% to 15% are not effective for inhibiting melanin production and will not lighten skin discolorations in that manner.
Alpha hydroxy acid peels (using 50% concentrations or greater) may remove skin discolorations. Only a qualified physician should perform these types of facial peels.

Glutathione: is an antioxidant that plays an important role in preventing oxidative damage to the skin. Glutathione for skin whitening is available in cream, soap, lotion, nasal spray and injectable form. Glutathione that is applied on the skin in the form of lotion is not efficiently absorbed by the skin cells as the thiol group undergoes rapid formation of disulfide.

Mercury: Many skin whiteners contain toxic mercury such as mercury(II) chloride or ammoniated mercury as the active ingredient. However prolonged use of mercury can have the opposite results of skin whitening and even mercury poisoning. Some studies suggest that long-term use could cause systemic absorption that leads to tissue accumulation of the substance, mercury can cause skin rashes, discoloration, and scarring, and can reduce your skin’s ability to resist infection and also problems to the brain, nervous system, and kidneys.

WORLD MOST EXPENSIVE SHOE

Hello Sweet Sweet!!

I will begin with a question. What is the highest, craziest amount you have ever spend on a pair of shoe?
So, I had this crazy thought and  I decided to assuage my curiosity and went for a hunt for the world most expensive shoe (female as usual) You better grab your seat tight cos what I found can literally throw you off balance.

  • It is a replica of the shoe worn by Dorothy in the film "Wizard of Oz"
  • It was designed in 1989 by Ronald Winston, son of the famous jewelry designer Harry Winston to celebrate the 50th anniversary of "The Wizard of Oz"
  • It took approximately two months to design
  •  Its made of 1350 carat of ruby and 50 carat diamond
  • Made of 4600 rubies

rubyshoesagain

  • Lastly and finally (in Corp Omo Abass Voice) the shoe cost a whooping $3million
I rest my case.

PICTURES OF CELEBS WHO LOVE THE HERMES BIRKIN

Hello Sweet Sweet!!

Recently, there has been a certain hype for the Hermes Birkin but in reality, the bag which was inspired by the famous 1980's singer Jane Birkin has been around for more than a decade. The Birkin is not just a bag, it is a BAG and seriously,,,,,,,,, even our celebs have to join the waiting list to acquire one Birkin. Trust me!!!!!! the bag is simply for those who have serious cash to burn. The astonishing aspect of the whole thing is that the second hand value most times dey out- price the original value. I FU N'UGOKWA IHE NKE A???

Below are pictures of some celebs who have finally acquired the scarcely available Birkin
